We would like to thank everyone who took the 4th
Annual Adult Reading Challenge this year. Whether you tried to read every clue
or just the ones that fit into your regular reading life- we appreciate your
willingness to play the game. The Challenge officially ends December 1st
at 5:00 pm, so please make sure to turn your Charters in before that. You may
drop them off by StephRhonda’s office any time after Monday, November 7th. If we are not
there when you drop off please remember to make sure your name and a phone
number is printed on the Charter. (If we are not in our office you may push them under the door.) We will return Charters at the Christmas Open
House (Thursday, December 8th) when the winners are announced or any
regular office hours after that. We hope you enjoyed this year as much as we
have!
The last two Gauntlets:
Read either Neil Gaiman
or Catherine Coulter. Neil’s
birthday is November 10th while Catherine’s is December 26th.
Both writers are well represented in the DPL collection. Neil spans several
genres including eBooks and books on CD. Catherine is mostly found in the
fiction area, but is also well represented in eBooks and books on CD.
The second gauntlet is to read an Asian Author. For this category the author must be of Asian
heritage, not just live in an Asian country. A few examples are Qiu Xiaolong, Vaddey Ratner,
Xinran and Jiang Rong.
