Decatur Public Library will be
closed Tuesday, July 4th to celebrate the holiday. We will reopen at
9 am on Wednesday, July 5th. The rest of the month is packed full of
programs and events for all ages. There will be two movie extravaganzas: we
have rescheduled the one that was cancelled due to weather in June for Friday,
July 14th at 5:30 pm and the other one will be held Friday, July 28th.
The last one will also serve as the grand finale of summer reading 2017. For
adults we have two more opportunities to learn more about the history of
Decatur and Morgan County on the 13th and 26th with our
Lunch and Learn series. More details are available at http://decatur.lib.al.us/.
Now for the reason most of you
clicked on this blog to begin with, the tasks for the 2017 Adult Reading
Challenge this month are:
Freedom Read any book that deals
with obtaining or maintaining freedom. It can be a character’s personal freedom
or a country or group of people’s fight for freedom.
A book that was first published from 1800 to 1900 This task is to read a book that could have been read by a
person who lived in the old west. To make it easier we have given you an entire
century of time not just the 50 to 60 years of the boom time of cattle drives.
The original publication date must be from January 1, 1800 to December 31,
1900. For this task graphic novel retellings of classics do not count.
