November Released Tasks

This blog is going to be short and sweet.
First we have to say thank you to everyone who took the 5th Annual Adult Reading Challenge this year. We hope you enjoyed playing as much as we enjoyed hosting.
You can begin turning in reading logs at the Book Club meeting on Thursday, November 2nd.  In order to be eligible for the prize drawings, your Reading Log must be turned in by 5:00 pm on Friday, December 1st to the Marketing and Outreach Department (StephRhonda).  If we are not in the office you may slide the reading log under our door. If you do, make sure your full name, phone number and library card number are printed on the log in ink. If we have your card number we do not need the checkout receipts because we can always check your history to make sure you checked the book out. We hope you enjoyed the Reading Round-Up this year and can join us for the last meeting of the Book Club from 4:00-6:00 pm (please note the change in time) in the Community Room on Thursday, December 7th. After the meeting stay for the Christmas Open House, it is always fun with lots of good snacks.

The last 2 tasks for this year are:

Kidnapped/shanghaied Read any book that contains a kidnapping or where someone is shanghaied. It happened a lot during the Wild West years.

Capital Punishment Read any book that is about or contains capital punishment.

Happy Reading!

The second task is to read any book about or set at the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair. The fair was held to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Christopher Columbus’s arrival in the new world and was open from May 1, 1893 to October 30, 1893. It was a massive event that covered over 600 acres and had a lasting impact on Chicago and the rest of the country. To see what it looked like follow this  link  from author Deeanne Gist’s website.
